USB-C is a 24-pin connector that supersedes previous USB connectors and can carry audio, video, and other data. It can also provide and receive power, such as powering a laptop or a mobile phone.
This is all good news for the future because it probably means that all future Phones, Laptops, Printers, and other devices will all use USB-C which hopefully means we will have one cable which does everything.
The problem is at present, we still have lots of devices, some brand new, that will need to connect to USB-C. There can be an additional problem for some users as there are many laptops which are now only coming with one USB-C port. What happens if you want to connect more than one device at a time for example a USB Key and a Printer or maybe 2 External Hard Drives. That is where these two handy adaptors come in:
- Firstly, we have a hub with USB-C to four USB 3 ports. With this you can connect four USB devices or hubs to your Laptop like a USB Key, External Hard Drive, or Printer.
- Secondly USB-C Multiport Adapter – The Adaptor will connect you to 4 different ports: USB-C, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet & USB 3.0. This is ideal if you want to connect your laptop to your TV, Monitor or projector using your HDMI Cable or if you need to connect to a wired network via the Gigabit Ethernet Port.
If you need more USB 3 Ports you can use the first Adaptor. If you need other types of connections, you can use the second Adaptor. If you use the second Adaptor and need more USB 3 ports you can always connect the first adaptor to the second and you will have loads.
Finally, if you need to connect to VGA (for example on old Projector or Monitor) then you can also get an adaptor to connect to HDMI to VGA and plug this into the second adaptor.
We have over 100 cables and adaptors in store. While we have a good few online we don’t have everything on the website. So if you need any help or advice just give us a call on 063 21527 or email paula@nbcomputers.ie
